Flush your toilet with bathwater

By Marilyn Price

To save water, you can put buckets in your bath or shower and collect the greywater. Then re-use that water to flush your toilet, saving your freshwater for drinking, cooking, or washing.

Just keep a full bucket next to your toilet, and when you’re ready to flush, simply lift the toilet seat and pour your greywater in. It works as well as water from the tank, but saves gallons of fresh water every day.

As droughts are becoming commonplace around the world, it’s more important than ever to save water in every way we can. This simple trick can make a big difference. I’ve been doing it since 1980 and it works like a charm!
