Install low-flow faucets and showerheads

By Lily Cohen, Green Change

One of the easiest ways to save water (even for renters like myself) is to install low-flow faucets in your sinks and low-flow showerheads for all your bathrooms. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average family could save 2,700 gallons of water per year by installing WaterSense labeled showerheads. Since these water savings reduce demands on water heaters, they will also save energy.

Many water municipalities will provide FREE low-flow faucets and showerheads to customers. Make sure to check out your local water provider to find out more! For Marin County residents in either the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) or the North Marin Water District (NMWD), our municipalities hand these out at their office locations. Stop by their offices to get your free gear.
