Place a sharing box in front of your home

By Eva Holman, Upstream

We have two little libraries and a park bench in front of our house, which we set up 8 years ago. The libraries are also used for food sharing, not just for books.

My uncle made the libraries out of repurposed planter boxes and the bench is from the Public Bench Project, a great program that provides free benches to promote community in public spaces in San Francisco.

Our neighbors come by and take and leave books, canned goods, and sometimes shoes or toys. It’s been an incredible opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and support a sharing economy. Sharing is caring!
