Turn off faucets whenever you can

By Marilyn Price, Green Change

One of the simplest things you can do to save water is to use faucets sparingly, and turn them off whenever you can.

For example, if you turn up your faucets only slightly, less water will come out. This works really well when washing hands.

And be sure to turn off your faucets when brushing your teeth or shaving. Just wet your brush and fill a glass for rinsing. Also, don’t let the faucet run while you clean or rinse food.

In other words, make sure that as little water as possible goes down the drain. When you can, try to save water from faucets in glasses, pots, or pans — and reuse the water you save.
